Tim O´Brien is one of the leading figures in contemporary bluegrass. As co-founder and lead singer of Hot Rize, this Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist bridged the traditional country sound and modern bluegrass style in the 1980s. He has also worked in bands such as Newgrange and Earls of Leicester and often performs solo or in duo with his sister Mollie. O'Brien's songs have been recorded by Kathy Mattea, Seldom Scene, New Grass Revival and the Johnson Mountain Boys, among others. In 2010, he formed the Tim O'Brien Band, which currently features his wife Jan Fabricius (mandolin, vocals), the excellent young banjoist Cory Walker, legendary bassist Mike Bub, and the great fiddler Shad Cobb.
