The Special Consensus is a four-person acoustic bluegrass band formed in the Chicago area in 1975. The band has released 18 recordings, international tours have brought the band to Australia, Canada, Europe, Ireland, South America and the United Kingdom. Band leader/banjo player Greg Cahill is the former President/Board Chair of the Nashville-based International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), the former President of the Nashville-based Foundation for Bluegrass Music and the recipient of the IBMA Distinguished Achievement Award in 2011. Other band members include guitarist Rick Faris, upright bass player Dan Eubanks and mandolin player Nick Dumas. The 2012 band release Scratch Gravel Road (Compass Records) was GRAMMY nominated for the Best Bluegrass Album award and two songs from the 2014 band release Country Boy: A Bluegrass Tribute To John Denver (Compass Records) received IBMA awards for Recorded Event of the Year and Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year. Long I Ride is the most recent Special C Compass Records recording and two songs from this recording have been nominated for the IBMA Recorded Event of the Year and Instrumental Recorded Performance of the Year awards.
 

Kathy Chiavola is an internationally renowned bluegrass singer and guitarist who has released four critically acclaimed albums.  SOMEHOW contains all original songs, from bluegrass to jazz, with guests Victor Wooten, Edgar Meyer, and Darrell Scott. It was named “Album of the Year” in the UK’s Country Music People Magazine in 2007. THE HARVEST with guests Chet Atkins, Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill, Bela Fleck, Tony Rice and Bill Monroe was named a top five bluegrass cd by the Chicago Tribune in 1996. Kathy has toured Europe, Japan and South America extensively, but her most memorable tour included a concert in Prague in 1987 with the Nashville Masters (Mark O´Connor, Jerry Douglas, Russ Barenberg and others). Kathy is overjoyed to join the Special Consensus in her first return to Prague in 29 years. Kathy has recorded with hundreds of artists including Garth Brooks, Emmylou Harris, Bill Monroe, John Hartford, John Oats, Ricky Skaggs, Tammy Wynette, Tony Rice, Vince Gill, Kenny Rogers, Victor Wooten and Mark O’ConnorRosťa Čapek uvádí…
