Russell Moore, a great guitarist and vocalist, started his career in Doyle Lawson's band and left after a few years to form his own band, IIIrd Tyme Out. The band brought a new energy and unique sound to bluegrass and even today, after almost 30 years of existence, is one of the most in-demand bands in the industry and has been named IBMA Band of the Year 7 times. Russell has won 6 awards as Vocalist of the Year, the most ever.
The current lineup is a combination of bluegrass veterans and great young players. Wayne Benson has been in the band for many years and has been one of the best mandolin players in the world for over 20 years. Keith McKinnon plays banjo and Nathan Aldridge plays fiddle. Dustin Pyrtle is the newest member of the band, playing bass and singing. It's probably the best lineup in the band's 28 year history.
