Mike Marshall (USA)
Mike Marshall is one of the most innovative players of new instrumental music. Initially rooted in bluegrass, Marshall has consistently explored all the possibilities of his stringed instruments. At the age of 18, he won the Florida state fiddle and mandolin championships. He was a member of the David Grisman quintet, toured with Stéphane Grappelli, Mark O'Connor, Tony Rice, Béla Fleck, Jerry Douglas, and fellow Grisman bandmember Darol Anger. Marshall and Anger also collaborated, along with bassist Todd Phillips, banjo player Tony Trischka, and guitarist David Grier, in a bluegrass/jazz/classical/folk group, Psychograss. Marshall co-founded the Modern Mandolin Quartet and plays Brazilian music with Choro Famoso. Marshall has also periodically collaborated with Edgar Meyer, Jerry Douglas, Mark O'Connor, and Sam Bush in a bluegrass superband, Strength in Numbers.

Caterina Lichtenberg (Germany)
Virtuoso German mandolinist, the first-prize winner of numerous national and international music competitions.  During the 2007/2008 winter semester, she was appointed to the position of Professor at the Cologne University of Music, and currently holds the only Professorship of Mandolin in the whole of Europe.

The bluegrass block was also a part of the concert – Mike Marshall created an improvised bluegrass band with the best Czech musicians of this genre (Petr Brandejs - banjo, Pepa Malina - fiddle, Ondra Kozák – guitar, Miloš Klápště – double bass.
Thanks to our concert series partner, the PETROF company, the mandolinist was also accompanied  on a few compositions by Petr Malásek, one of the best Czech piano players.
The concert of Mike Marshall and Caterina Lichtenberg in Prague presented an incredible lineup of musicians and diverse musical styles ranging from Brazilian choro to bluegrass and jazz.
