Southern Legacy- a new bluegrass supergroup featuring Don Rigsby, Ron Block, Josh Williams, Steve Thomas and Mike Anglin.
Made up of musicians with over 200 years of combined experience, the band is poised to continue the rich legacy of bluegrass visionaries from Bill Monroe to Billy Strings.
With roots in legendary bands like Alison Krauss & Union Station, The Osborne Brothers, Lonesome River Band and Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, these seasoned musicians live and breathe bluegrass history.
When Southern Legacy takes the stage, the spirit of bluegrass legends comes alive. Their unique sound seamlessly combines the drive of JD Crowe's banjo, the rhythmic pulse of Jimmy Martin and the captivating tenor of Bill Monroe. This fresh yet timeless interpretation captivated audiences and earned admiration for their ability to honor the past while forging a new path.
Experience the authentic sound of real bluegrass!
John Reischman & The Jaybirds - John Reischman began his career in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 1980s with the eclectic bluegrass band Good Ol' Persons. He was an original member of the legendary "new acoustic" quartet, the jazz-influenced Tony Rice Unit, known for its highly skilled instrumental performances. In the early 1990s, John moved to Vancouver and in 1999 formed the Jaybirds, featuring the great guitarist Patrick Sauber, who has performed with Doc Watson, Richard Green, John Jorgensen, Peter Rowan, Tim O'Brien and John Fogerty, among others. He played on Laurie Lewis' 2016 Grammy-nominated album The Hazel and Alice Sessions.
John Reischman and the Jaybirds, as well as his mandolinist and lead songwriter, create a style of bluegrass that perfectly blends original songs and instrumentals with old-time Appalachian music, creating a truly unique band sound. Now in their twentieth year of playing together, with seven award-winning albums and two Juno Award nominations to their credit, the Jaybirds are at once innovative and unspectacular, sophisticated and adventurous, happily old-fashioned and contemporary in the 21st century.
